Start12th International Congress...

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee I am pleased to invite you to the 12th International Congress of the Polish Neuroscience Society, which will be held on 6-8 September 2015 in Gdansk. Congress program will include plenary lectures by invited guests from Poland and abroad as well as the oral and poster sessions. Conference venue – Medical University of Gdansk.

Get to know the thousand-year history of this beautiful Baltic port city. You may take a walk by The Royal Route (Droga Królewska), the longest urban axis of the Medieval Europe. Look Neptune statue in the eye and wave at the Lady in the Window. Then you may take a walk down the Long Market (Długi Targ) and visit Artus Court (Dwór Artusa). You can walk in the footsteps of the main character of Gunter Grass “The Tin Drum” or look at the stars with Johannes Hevelius.

In its golden age, the city of Gdansk enjoyed the unique status of a municipal republic. It was also a melting pot of cultures and ethnical groups. The spirit of tolerance and the wealth made on trade allowed culture, science and art to flourish. Today, works by outstanding Gdansk masters can be admired in museums, churches, and galleries. These collections, as well as the enchanting historic sites document a thousand years of the city’s continued development. The breakthrough events of the most recent turbulent period are documented in the multimedia exhibition “Roads to Freedom” arranged in the shelter near to the National Commission of Solidarność. The exposition recalls the local struggle for freedom and justice, and the birth of the “Solidarity”, the first independent trade union in then-communist Poland. These developments, triggered the avalanche of events that toppled communism in Europe.
